Lack of urgency, when hungry

I agree the piglets were planted on the women's island.
On the episode I saw last night the women were at dehydration emergency level. Down to just one canister for water; the second one reeked with putrid leftover fish(?). So when it looked like the women were going to be removed from the island, then all of a sudden the canister smelled like new. The extra water saved them. Which means the show would continue.
I like the premise of the show, but I do feel that since they have a lifeline to emergency services, the participants don't really take the situation as seriously, as they should.

It gets to feeling like every episode follows the same pattern.

Food/water crisis that's miraculously resolved by the end of the episode, and there's a conflict between two people which is resolved by the end of the episode when the one at fault magically redeems themselves by finding extra food or somesuch.

...then whoa, differences...

I guess the second series (if there is one), will give us a better idea if there's a pattern. I prefer the History Channel's 'Alone' series than this. Alone was 10 men with 'survival skills' abandoned off various locations of Vancouver Island; miles apart from each other. Until there was one left. That was great!

The lack of fear may not be due to planted food and water, it may just be the fact that these people know that rescue is one phone call and 20 minutes away.

Agreed, that really does take the edge off doesn't it? Maybe they should make that a little more restricted in future to really put the pressure on.
