Mark ask Heather if she killed Linda so him, Heather and Chloe could all be a family in the end? That confused me cuz I thought mark was on Linda's side by that point...

Yep. In fact, that little bit made me chuckle. Usually in these situations, when the guy tries to clam down the crazy girl she devolves into some kind of delusion about their being 'together', which in turn allows the guy enough time to wrest away the gun/knife/lead pipe that the villain is threatening someone with.
This time the villain doesn't fall for it, and in fact mocks the fact that he thought that all of this was about him (as it often is in these types of movies). A little knowing wink to the viewers.
