Oh, you've no idea how big a fan of insult humor I am, good Sir! lol
Billy Crystal does a bit called "Buddy Young, Jr., I'm sure you've heard,
a Vegas lounge-type insult comic, ruffled shirt with crushed velvet jacket & all!
Before Billy started taking the character too seriously with the whole
"Mr. Saturday Night" backstory mythos, Buddy had two shining moments:
One as a commentator during "Weekend Update" on "NBC's Saturday Night"
(I absolutely refuse to call that show "SNL".) and the other as
the host of a 50s kiddie show called "Fort Fun"! lol

and I can't for the life of me find the "Fort Fun" clip, but I can tell ya where to look:
Buddy's being interviewed by Rob Reiner during what looks like an HBO special or something.
They show "Fort Fun" looking back at Buddy's past work.
I'm sure you'll scrounge it up. Good hunting!
I notice in all the many bits he did on conan,
once he was in the presence of the great one, don rickles
and he was so awed that he absolutely refused to do any comedy or insults to him.
Well, it's good to hear somebody on Conan was nice to Don Rickles ....
That condescending prick O'Brien had The King Of Zing on one night.
After a little Q & A, Rickles goes up into the audience with a microphone
to work his Magic ....
Right in the middle of it, they keep cutting back & forth between O'Brien and Don,
and Conan has this nervous/embarrassed look on his face as if to say:
"Aw, jeeze, Pop-Pop's acting crazy again. Better rein him in ...."
Then he calls Don back to the couch & they awkwardly go to a commercial.
I felt like reaching through the screen & poking O'Brien's eye with a hot fork.
How dare he, some fracking talkshow nobody, have the balls to treat a Legend that way!
Jay Leno was no different, admonishing Don for being Don in a very serious way
right in front of the whole audience by saying something like:
"Oh, Don, you know most people don't get a chance to go to China ...."
Jay Leno's a genius, sure, but, again, to treat, of all people, Don Rickles that way ....
It just infuriated me, is all.
I also read that even though they ordered 19 episodes of this,
they are only going to show the first 9 or so at first,
then take a pause and show the rest later.cause
he doesn't want people to get burnt out on triumph.
I see the strategy there, yep.
So, in showing only 9 shows now, I still have four more episodes to look forward to?
Suh-weet!
And I tweeted to them that they shoukd get a trial Summer run on NBC,
since Universal Studios owns both the "Triumph" show and the network.
Hope it happens, 'cause that's how a little known show called "All In The Family" got it's start ....
me I could watch it for 39 episodes every week and not get tired of it.

you know the last episode was not as good. it was going kind of slow, with the usual boring granny sex jokes about her having a threesome etc then they were off to hollywood blvd and I got all excited, ok, here we go! he's going to insult the freaks and weirdo's that hang out on hollywood blvd. well he only got off a few funny lines like fake johnny depp sniffing too much paint thinner(that guy was really creepy)but overall it was a dissapointment. he make a joke to the woman dressed as willy wonka about that's the kind of a costume a pedophile would try to hide in, and she just goes "your weird" and triumph just goes, ok. no comeback even. then he goes off to a party with fake johnny depp where he steals food.hope this isn't a sign of things to come. I dont' know this one I just didn't find very funny.
yeah, poor don rickles just doesn't fit in in today's politically correct world. like a lot of comedians sometimes their interviews are funnier than their pre packaged material. rickles was hilarious when he would appear on talk shows like johnny carson and merv griffin, etc rather than just doing standup stuff like "hey, your mexican right? can I have a taco?" and then start going, "cananaa cannanna wheyno" But I saw him do a sort of stage show for like half an hour or hour just in the last few years, where he toned it down a bit, and he was very funny, he could still do it even at age 82 or whatever he was.
