No One Complains of Poop All Over The Place!!

Either appearance or smell?
Also garbage around and under van?

Neighbors and cops would be complaining quite often locally!

perhaps some of them did. But Alan bennet was living in an area much frequented by arty people, writers, publishers, etc, with a tendency probably to more liberal attitudes. i don't think any of the people in the film are actually based on his real life neighbours except for ursula vaughan Williams, but in real life he lived next door to the publisher Colin haycraft and his wife Anna (who wrote novels under the name of Alice thomas Ellis) and their large family. the novelist Beryl bainbridge was another near neighbour. Also camden town has quite a lot of eccentrics. it was probably the kind of area where people were less likely to complain about Miss Shepherd.
