Did he kill the oil worker who paid to get a handshandy from Star??

Nope, the oil worker beat his a$$. Likeliest scenario.

Well he only had a small scrape- if that was an a$$ beating it was the saddest in history. One of many things that make no sense about this movie.

Someone either did a really bad job of editing the film and left a bunch of stuff out and they were all to lazy to fix it or by that time no one cared. I am guessing the latter.

1 or 2 unanswered questions are ok if it helps the movie/story. 20 unanswered questions because they group didn't know how to tell a proper story is just a failure.

It might have been loser's night and Jake had to fight, his sales were slipping since he met Star. There was screaming and a bonfire. But it didn't look like anyone else was there when he came back to the house.

And why did the main character get bloody without being injured while walking through a grassy area?

The truck full of cattle was going to the slaughterhouse, and I guess they just let the blood drain out to the surrounding fields?
I actually don't know if I believe that part. I think they use the blood in fertilizer and animal feed , etc. They really use almost every part of the cow for something, if they can get another penny for each cow they will take it.

Don’t think he killed him. That wouldn’t fit the character, and it’d be hard to get away with that. It’s implied that he had a fight with him. You hear him screaming stuff as Crystal walked back to the house. And then back at the house, Jake is asking questions about the guy in the truck.

Whether he won or lost the fight is unclear. But it’s implied that he fought.
