Why Eleanor Rigby?

What's the reason for the name? Is it connected to the character in the Beatles song somehow? It seems like it would have to be.

Her dads surname is Rigby and her parents met while waiting for one of the many beatles surprise reunion concert that was rumoured to happen after their last concert but never came through.

She is not into the beatles but doesnt hate them

Thanks for answering that. Is her character anything like the character in the song?

Eleanor was an active woman who lead a happy life with her partner until a traumatic experience happens and her partner and her drift appart due to different ways of grieving .

She becomes a wreck that doesnt know what to do with her life/ a people watcher of sorts mid movie which I guess could relate to the song

Things change in the end.

The movie is still just a movie about their breakup and how people surrounding them/themselves dealt with it and does a fine job at this with the dialogues and whatnot.

Go see it if this sounds interesting because it does a fine job at describing the consequences of the traumatic experiece . Avoid it if you are hoping to find a film about the beatles/one of their songs as its not what the movie tries to portray

You may watch vivir es facil con los ojos cerrados(http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2896036/) if you can find a subtitled copy. It tells you a story about a teacher that is obsessed with the beatles and goes on a trip half across the Spain to a desert because he finds out that the beatles themselves are filming a movie there.

They are still secondary characters there at best but it is based on a real life story, the man that was obsessed with the beatles did meet them and helped with the script and whatnot so its a much better film if you are interested in the beatles
