un-relatable character

Disclaimer: I only saw the "her"version.
I found Eleanor to be completely unremarkable and the entire story difficult to relate to. Do people really have such patient loved ones in their life? All the characters surrounding Eleanor are willing to put up with frigid treatment, while they respond with warmth and care.
Was anyone able to relate to this character?

I do because I too suffer from depression.

I would agree. This movie was definitely for lifetime channel. Nothing more. She was somewhat annoying because of her attitude, meaning eff everyone because no one understands me. Not even the best psychologists or psychiatrists. No one has suffered more than me. No one gets me. Having said that, I do love Jessica and Viola.

Some people do have patient family members, thankfully. Grief is terrible, life-changing, and many people feel lost, with a need to re-define themselves. Losing a parent is bad enough; to lose a child, I can't even imagine. Everyone gets through it at their own pace, and with their own hardships, and yes, it's a very lonely road, even when surrounded by other people.

You really should have started with 'Him', which sets up some of the things that were explained/resolved in 'Her'.

Thank goodness you said that. I really wanted to like this but I just couldn't understand why we're supposed to care about this character. The whole movie I was trying to get into the story and I guess I was just waiting for something different and more interesting but after an hour..which I'm annoyed I even wasted that much time trying to get into the movie..I realized it's just not going anywhere and the characters are so pretentious and it just upsets me that I think the movie think it's saying something compelling and it's intense but it just went nowhere.
