in the late 60's, long hair was on every campus.

True that! It was there, in the movie, particularly in the scene with the Vietnam protesters. There probably wouldn't have been a lot of "long hair" on the team though so I don't find fault.

Just watched the movie for the first time. At one point the coach is kidding Freddie about the fact that they are two of the few people who still visit the barber on a regular basis.

Yes, it was ON every campus but not all the guys had long hair. It was a time of transition. I just pulled out my 1967 college yearbook and very few men had long hair, especially not the athletes. Then I pulled out my wife's 1972 LSU yearbook and notice that 5 years made a big difference, long hair was a lot more common, but not so much with the football players.

So what we see in this movie, 1968 and 1969 at U of T is probably very realistic.
