Actual title "American Poltergeist 3" & makes no sense (spoilers)

This begins as a found footage film, then that's discarded for no reason.

A newlywed couple decide to get a room at a farmhouse, attach cameras throughout to catch orbs/spirit balls for some paper the guy is writing. No reason why THIS farmhouse is chosen. And why a newlywed couple would simple want to live in a room for $300 a month and why the owner, an older, long-haired farmer, would allow them.

The cameras are set up--at least half a dozen--and...they are never checked again. This idea too is discarded. The guy never watches the footage, no mention is made of the orbs again, and he is never shown writing or researching his "paper" again.

We see three nights of found footage. A hanging lamp rocks back and forth. That's it.

The farmer makes some noise at night, eventually hangs himself. The couple suddenly decide to stay, believe the house is now haunted. The woman insists they "board up the room" where the farmer hangs himself.

None of this makes any sense whatsoever. And the music/sound stings come so often but we can't tell if the POV is the film we're watching or the occasional found footage we see. There is a BANG! What caused it? We never know.

Then the woman starts filming, sees an eyeball looking back at her in the sealed room. Then the guy films the girl acting weird, never says anything about it to her. She casually mentions, "See any orbs on your footage?" Oh, yeah, that's right...

And then? (SPOILERS) Aliens appear. And random people are interviewed at the end. And the farmhouse is shown to be in the middle of some crop circles.

So I guess half way through this PARANORMAL ACTIVITY rip off (aka American Poltergeist 3 [???]) they changed their minds and made it...about aliens and probs? And changed the title on IMDB to ENCOUNTER....but didn't change the title on the movie?

It's a mess, from premise to execution to content. But I did watch to the end, so there's that.
