Slightly OT: If Sakura and Hinata were male characters...

...they probably wouldn't get nearly as much fandom hate as they do right now.

I'm not saying this to be sexist (I'm a woman, btw), but in my personal experiences being in the Naruto fandom, I've noticed a pattern of double standards and critical hypocrisy regarding Sakura and Hinata's characters.

For instance, Sakura has been hated by a lot of Naruto fans (and I'm not saying that I hate her) originally because she started out as unlikable, but even after Part 2, when she became stronger, she still got criticized by Naruto fans for having romantic feelings for Sasuke. Even after the manga ended, she still gets criticized by Naruto fans. Why? For marrying Sasuke of course! Now, I admit that I had my issues with Sakura in the past, but it wasn't because of that reason. To make matters worse, there are several non-Japanese Naruto fans right now that are trying to make SasuSaku look like the most abusive relationship in the manga, but what these people don't realize is that Sasuke has done much worse things to Naruto than he has to Sakura.

So how come these people never call SasuNaru an abusive relationship? Why is it okay for Naruto to forgive Sasuke, but not okay for Sakura to forgive Sasuke? Which brings me to my next question, why do people hate Hinata for being "Naruto-obsessed" when Gaara and Neji were like that as well?

Why is it that Hinata gets criticized for using Naruto as her inspiration for getting stronger and becoming more confident? Nobody else at the Chuunin Exams cheered for her except for Naruto! And don't you dare say that Hinata ignored Neji when he died, because she was crying her eyes out when he said his last words! That's another thing, why is it that when Hinata is willing to die for Naruto (like in the Pein Arc), she's "selfish" or "suicidal"? I don't see anybody make those comments for Neji when he was willing to die for Hinata and Naruto (I'm not saying that Neji was selfish, this is just a rhetorical question). Don't even get me started on Gaara, he was practically Naruto's biggest fan besides Hinata.

And another thing, how come nobody criticized Naruto for needing to be rescued by Sasuke and Boruto in Boruto the Movie, yet when Hinata needed to be rescued in The Last she was suddenly bashed by feminazis everywhere? Why is rescuing a woman considered sexist these days? If you saw a woman getting mugged or raped in the streets, would you ignore that woman and let her handle the situation all by herself, or would you actually try and help her?
