I believe resident evil will hurt this

If resident evil came out a month alternate it be good but two weeks will hurt this movie I love both and Ima see both but idk what sony was thinking

reply

i agree w/ you 100%. i've been saying for a while now that Sony/Screengems releasing both films 2 weeks apart seems like self inflicted $$$ damage. i'm definitely seeing both films but i know many people can't afford (i usually can't but i'm budgeting my $$$ down to the pennies so i can see both in January) to go to more than 1 theater movie a month.

Only in the US and other countries that have January release dates for both movies. Most Markets have UW coming out in early December. So no danger of overlap there. And RE's focus is not primarily the US audience anyway. Actually most countries are smart enough not to have UW first week of January because they are probably avoiding the Christmas movie frenzy (like Star Wars) that way. So UW has a better chance there. No clue why they decided to be morons with the release date in the US.

Besides UW can never make as much money as RE simply because UW is a R-rated movie series. Though I still don't know why these movies are R-rated but I'm sure there must be a reason.

reply

RjanaR, that's a good point. i forgot that the 2 films aren't being released close together in non-American markets. oh and here in the states both UW and RE movies are rated R. are they rated differently elsewhere?

reply

It seems few countries actually have both of them in January. US being one of those few. Most have them almost 2 months apart (UW coming out Dec 1 and RE January 26th or something).

Oh I wasn't aware that RE is also rated R. Wow brain fart. But I never pay attention to ratings anyway. Most ratings are utter bs IMO. I don't see anything in UW or RE that needs R. But then I never understood why Mad Max: Fury Road had a R-rating either. In my country RE and UW both get a 16 as minimum age.

reply

i agree 100000% that ratings from (here in the states) MPAA(?) are F'd. there's no rhyme or reason to them it seems. lol.

reply

I've seen PG-13 movies that have far worse content than UW. Why does a little blood mean that a movie needs a R? Sometimes movies seem to get a R just for a little cursing. Which lets face it, everyone does it. Even kids/teenagers. Even the 16 rating in my country makes me go...why? Back when I was that age it was legal for 16 year olds to smoke and drink. Good grief.

star wars will hurt this to! i forgot about that

Resident Evil wont premiere in theaters in that many countries as you might think.
Some of the distributors who handle Sony's movies, therefor both Underworld and the Resident Evil movies, have decided to put more focus on Underworld instead.

You can't trust the list of countries that Resident Evil is claimed to premiere in the theaters.
I found that out for my own country which is on that list. We actually won't get a theatrical release of the movie.
Instead we have to wait for the later DVD/Blu-ray release of it.

So you better check the home pages for the theaters in your own countries, instead of putting trust in the IMDb listing.
