India's official Oscar entry ?

It is a shame that this film is not India's official entry for academy awards, despite winning national award for best film. It is not even in the list of top 8 shortlisted films. I can not understand the logic that crap films like Bahubali, Baby are being considered for India's official entry to Academy awards.

Just finished this movie, minutes earlier. And the thought to my head is, why this movie is considered as the official entry to the Academy. The story is bland, performances are dull and As the movie progress the story goes no where. there has been a constant effort of digressing the story from the main plot. for example, the judges vacation part. i was not at all able to connect the dot from the actual plot. I have been an ardent fan of Marathi, this for one does not make a cut for me. Disappointed!

That means you completely missed the point the movie is trying to make.

It's a satire. The judge and the accused narayan are almost of same age. While one is lingering in jail coz of the system n the other vacationing n propagating superstitions. All the characters are excellently developed, which is a very good part of the movie.

The last bit of the judge's vacation is in fact the most hard-hitting part of the story. It has such a wealth of subtle messages in it. First, he advocates unscientific methods like changing names and using stones to cure a child's muteness. This shows how rational he is in his approach as a judge. But the powerhouse scene is the extreme last one, when a gang of children try to pull a prank on him. What does he do? He catches the weakest boy - the same mute one - and slaps him. In fact, that BOY IS MUTE. He could not have shouted at all. This shows how stinted the judiciary is. They punish the ones they can get hold of, the easy catch. That right there is your powerful message.

Thank you for your insight.

Biggest regret- Arnie took away the chance to kill the predator.

Whilst I agree with your assessment of these last scenes, it does not make up for Court's disjoined narrative. I felt Court should have focused more on Narayan's character along with the political/cultural implications of his trial.

I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

Fabulous interpretation, friendo. Thanks.

The movie as i see it was 'okay', not bad and also not that great.. Yes the satire was suttle but just this satire should not make it a worthy bet.

Haider was the best movie this year. And seeing the way it adapted the 'Macbeth', the direction, background score and yes the satire the chutzpa, it is the best movie to represent or genius and make great director of our present generation Vishal Bharadwaj known to the world.
I can bet that it will be better than the Hollywood's Macbeth.

Yes talking about other stupid films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Baby, blah blah what to say.. Some people don't have taste and knowledge.

COURT- this movie was awesome n a real cinematic experience. Looking at the budget n the debutant director n the lesser known star cast, this movie is much better than Salman -Akshay-Srk-Hrithik films.
