same as Match Point but kinda much wordy

I think Woody managed to do a developed version of "match point"

and he did decently.

exactly m thoughts when the movie ended. but i think match point is better, and right to the point.

reply

match point was pure. this one is adopted but decent(due to acting).

"Irrational Man" also has many similarities to "Cassandra's Dream," another critical and popular flop. "Cassandra's Dream" is by far the better movie.

The inspiration of woody generall in his many movies is dostoyevski crime and punishment. The russian authors and the Greek tragedy plays has inspired his work.

I agree!!! I actually came on this board to add a thread saying this! But you did first, so I concur! 'Irrational Man' feels like a less interesting, less rational, less enjoyable version of 'Match Point', and I loved 'Match Point'.
Similar things in both movies:
- elevator scene in the end where one character is grabbed from behind, then a death occurs
- the unnecessary murder of a character (if you stop and think about it, in both films the main murder could have been avoided in favor of other methods of conciliation)
- the young and beautiful female love interests of the protagonists
- the morally tormented male leads
- London : in 'Match Point' the lead character moves to London from Ireland and the whole action takes place there, whereas in 'Irrational Man' the female lead is presented with the idea of moving to London (with her boyfriend)
- art : theatre, opera and museums in 'Match Point', piano recitals in 'Irrational Man'
and the list could carry on. Woody Allen has, kind of, made these themes his symbolism in the movies he makes.

I don't mean any offence to anyone reading that was involved with the movie but Irrational Man seemed more like a contractual obligation.

Match Point is immensely watchable.
