My theory - Woody Allen has committed a murder..

...and his trilogy of films, Crimes and Misdemeanors, Match Point and Irrational Man are his way of confessing, justifying himself and expiating his guilt.

Feel free to discuss.

I don't know about murder but perhaps another crime just as bad. That, or murder (just as it always has been) is a great dramatic device. But I'm also sure him being vilified by the press would make him feel like he's a criminal at times, and Allen seems like the type who would allow that feeling to filter into his work.

He has been accused of the serious crimes of pedophilia and child molestation and perhaps these films are his way of processing these accusations, and whatever events in his past that have caused them.

It's possible. I think there are writers who write beyond their experience and writers who write about their experience. Allens work tends to have an autobiographical tone. So I'll just leave it at that.

quicksilver,
Interesting hypotheses.
But then, what about Hitchcock?!
Yieks!
Just think about Hitchcock's movies (& TV Show) , and therefore, would you ever imagine that A.Hitchcock would be a murderer,--- just because most of his movies (and his TV SHOW) were about murder?

Funny, that thought did cross my mind for a fleeting second.
