What exactly is the point of this movie?

I fail to understand what are they trying to tell us in this movie, aside from the art work itself because the cast did a good job there but I mean the movie itself, what are they trying to deliver? The fact that being gay is wrong? Or that people can go from gay to straight just like that? Are they encouraging the idea that "homosexuality is death" and by choosing heterosexuality, we're choosing life? (which were Micheal words) or what exactly is the point of this biography of a guy who thinks God hates gays!
