Just me, or was the nudity/sex gratuitous

I generally liked the film. Thought Nira and Yoav were acted wonderfully.

But why full-frontal nudity of Nira's husband? Why see Nira disrobed with her poetry instructor?

It's easy even for this complete amateur to visualize how to convey sexual attraction without being explicit.

And how was the nudity/sex essential to the story?

(One more, if unrelated, question: how could the little boy's poetry reading be halted - insultingly - and then Nira dances with the jerk responsible for it?)

What am I missing?

Yah, I was expecting something to happen when the husband got nude. Some kind of revelation about their sex life and relationship. The poetry teacher scene didn't perplex me as much.

I also can't really grasp what the poetry reading and club scene all meant. I thought at first the the guy liked the poem and threw candy in reference to what she was saying about young Mozart and how they stuffed him with sweets.
