Looking for accurate information about:

One thing that kept bothering me was the fact that Deepak worked so long at the security firm without ever receiving one paycheck. I kept waiting for the film to make it clear to me, an American citizen, that either his first month's wages had gone directly to Vishnu for having helped him find employment or that this was a unique situation that he could take to some government agency for assistance. I just can't recall having read or seen of a situation like this and it was so very heartbreaking. It's one thing when there are so many people around the world who feel that working for their livelihood is beneath them. However, we saw that Deepak was very concerned about working and providing for his wife and daughter. Just the idea that a man so close to the edge of losing it all, should work and do the job and yet his employer would refuse to pay for his time and efforts even as he's throwing him out the door to go and make a notification to his partner's now widowed wife. Believe me, no one desires to make such notifications even if you were being paid a bonus, but not paid at all?

Anyway, if you have accurate, first-hand information about such practices, I would appreciate hearing about them. If nothing else, such travesties should be known by more people and, at the very least, anyone who cares about the treatment of fellow humans can write letters. Thanks for anyone providing information on this subject.

Just want to be certain that others reading this know that this is "a must see movie." Powerful tension throughout, characters in lead positions who you can truly care about and cheer for - then cry over, the music is enjoyable and memorable, and everyone's work on this film should be celebrated. Personally, this is a movie that has to become part of my DVD library and it has sent me looking for other movies done by the same people. I read someplace that Shah Rukh Khan also gave the movie high praise and even stated that he believed the lead actor, Rajkumar Rao, will be a better star than himself one day! Well, I'm afraid that I'd probably argue that statement, but isn't it just like our eternal, handsome hero to say such a kind thing! And, I do agree that both Rajkumar Rao and Patralekha are VERY talented stars who will entertain us for many more years to come.

This do happens in India. Poor people are exploited like this by private agencies in big cities. I don't say that all people go through like this but yes, there is truth shown in movie. In India, judiciary is slow and you need a lawyer to work out your case . Look at condition of Deepak. Could He afford a lawyer ? No he could not and that's the case with others too. How many go through this ? I don't have statistics but yes , it happens.

Empty_Life, thank you for your response. You're right, I could not imagine Deepak seeking the services of a lawyer and it's heartbreaking that there is no government agency that is dependable to represent employees. We do at least have the Labor Department in the U.S. Not always satisfied with the performance of government agencies but it certainly is better than what we saw in the movie.

It's good to witness how others live in other parts of the world so we don't always take what we have for granted. There is so much that I enjoy and admire about India, but clearly, life there is not all roses and not very easy for all.
