Fake Newsweek cover?

The film showed a magazine cover to illustrate her success. The logo was partially obscured by the photo of Janis, but it looked like it read "Newsday," and overall the cover resembled the 1968 issue of Newsweek with Joplin on the cover. Was this just a made-up proxy? If so, is it that hard to secure permission to use the actual cover?
