Ummmmm You all watch movies right? Did you ever , for once think, she looked that way for the friggin role??? Get a life. Here's an amazing philanthropist as well as a great actress who has taken it upon herself to get a double mastectomy and her fallopian tubes removed so she would cut her risk of catching cancer that runs in her family. Not to mention a Husband who has stood by her all this time. If you have the time to get on your computer and say *beep* stuff about people who have nothing to personally do with your lives I would consider working on YOUR issues instead of deflecting. shareThis is so vain it's disgusting.. the woman has had multiple surgeries trying to prevent cancer, probably so stressed over it..and people are worried about how thin she is. Not to mention she has 6 kids all under 14. Priorities man.. learn how to achieve them.

To be fair she had surgery for something she doesn't actually have, I started smoking at age 11 and smoked till I was 35 so I have a higher risk of getting lung cancer or heart disease, hey I'll get my lungs and heart cut out. Also I'm pretty sure I read that each of their kids has a full time nanny, so unless she gets stressed over paying the nanny's then no, just no.
For the record I always thought she looked like Robocop in the first movie near the end when he hasn't got the helmet on.

Are you comparing your own choice to a deadly disease that she is carrying in her DNA?
Lots of people are genetically at a higher risk of getting certain diseases, it doesn't mean you will actually get it, taking action to prevent that was her choice, so we both made choices and we have to live with them.

1) You, by choice, started to smoke at a young age, therefore you have a higher risk of cancer;
2) She, not by choice, was born with an aggresive gene, also having a risk of cancer. Maybe higher than you, but who knows: we are not oncologists, we are people on a message board for a movie star.
It's not said that she will actually get the cancer, but I assume she has skilled doctors who advised her in this over many years, before making the decision to ablate parts of her body in a society that ridiculously and strongly emphasizes femininity and motherhood through these exact same parts.
How can you compare that to your cigarettes?
Apart from this, you seem to judge her for her decision. Why?

Again, these are choices of an entirely different order, with an entirely different ground. And furthermore, who says she doesn't 'live with them'? In my opinion, she does, and very gracefully.

I agree that it's become out of hand. This type of gene testing can be harmful since people may have unnecessary surgeries. There's no guarantee that it will happen and lifestyle changes should first be made.
