Liked it more than I thought I would

I'm not a fan of Jolie-Pitt and I was expecting to check out before the finale. But the film really captured the era and was gorgeous to look at. It FELT like it was filmed in the mid 70s.

Yes, they could have cut out about half of the Vanessa "moping" scenes. And I could not relate to the Vanessa character in the least. Miscarriage, miscarriage, BARREN. That was all that set her off on years of torturing her husband??? Didn't ring true to me - I felt like "that was it?""

?? yep--a little long winded.

I was expecting Vanessa's depression to come from an extraordinary trauma. I was disappointed all this drama stems from a miscarriage which should be just a sneeze in a relationship. Disappointing but still enjoyable.

In the first half of the film I was expecting Roland's alcoholism to take a turn for the worse. But it turned out his drinking wasn't really the big problem. He turned out to be the good guy trying to fix Vanessa's damage.
