Sooni's Suitors

Sooni had 3 suitors (the Parsi gentleman, Ian McLeod, and Naseem Ali Khan) that were all pining for her hand in marriage. Ultimately Sooni chose Mr. Khan much to the dismay of her family who did not support the marriage because he was Muslim. My question is: How do you think they would have reacted if she had chosen Ian McLeod instead? They were extremely grateful to Ian for saving her life, and I was wondering if anyone thought that despite him not being Parsi that they might be more accepting towards him all things considered.
