Also Return of the Living Dead came out in 1985, four years after The Evil Dead, so I have no idea what the hell you're going on about.

Fair point, but I think what he was getting at is that movies of all genres (especially horror) take inspiration from what has gone before it.
I don't really think that it's massively like Evil Dead either. I mean, thematically it has some similarities (the awakening of evil in some form where chaos descends on an area - a cabin or a town) but that could apply to a lot of films. The actual plot lines are quite different.
Deathgasm pays tribute to the metal/horror scene. It wears its inspirations on its sleeves. A line which one of the possessed speaks, goes "I'll eat your soul" which is pretty much "I'll swallow your soul" which we all know from Evil Dead.
shareare you implying this is somehow a ripoff of Evil Dead? gawd, I hope not!! the "goofy kids find ancient writing that unleashes demons" is a pretty old trope, and I doubt Sam Raimi holds any kind of legal standing with said trope.
I wouldn't even be surprised if the makers of Deathgasm have never even seen Evil Dead!! Seriously, Evil Dead is so ingrained in our culture now, that it has an impact without needing to see it.
I'm pretty sure saying it's similar to Evil Dead is a pretty fair comparison.
