Are You Frickin' Kidding Me? Another Empty Worthless Independent Movie

A complete waste of time and money. Hopefully this movie will cure me
of the habit of wasting $6.99 or more on empty worthless independent movies
on Time Warner. After being burned by Cobie Smulders Results, Chris Evans Before We Go, and now Digging For Fire, hopefully I've learned my lesson, for the most part, independent American movies SUCK. Blue Ruin is an exception to that new rule.
There is an alleged mystery in this movie, but it's really just something for the lead actor to spend time on. When he finds the answer to his question, he does...nothing. Infuriating.

Agreed
And I too loved Blue Ruin

I actually liked Before We Go a lot, but this movie had me bored and ultimately annoyed. I kept wondering where it was going to go, which it turns out is nowhere.

I think its a metaphor, how his body is buried and gone....
He mentioned how he poured his entire being into his child...

Oh what a day. What a lovely day!

I watched it last night. I felt let down. I had rented it for $0.99 on iTunes because I really liked the trailer. It seemed like a fun film. I never got around to watching it before the rental period expired, but I rented it again for $4.99. Big mistake. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't a bad film. It just wasn't what I was expecting.

What bothered me most of all was the fact that he found the body and did nothing with it.

"You didn't do the taxes?! Ok. *beep* me in the shower and then I'm divorcing you."

Independent American comedies are my favorite of all genres, but they rely heavily on dialogue and clever banter between characters, and the humor is often quite dry. Just like any movie genre, some genres just rub people the wrong way and they should avoid those type of films. I personally can't stand the exorcism-type horror films, but if I ever watch one, I certainly don't go to the internet and whine about not liking it since I only have myself to blame for watching something when I knew it was a bad idea to begin with.

reply

Right, I spent $7 on a rental "I knew it was a bad idea to begin with"
*beep* you, troll.

It stars Jake Johnson, what did you expect. He plays the same character (New Girl) repeatedly in everything he's in. I gave up on New Girl cause I couldn't stand him, he's the worst one on the show.

State champ in martial arts. Trained with firearms. Don't be a keyboard warrior.

reply

Well that's because he kinda plays himself, I guess. You might not be aware of the fact that this story is based on an incident in which Jake finds a gun and a bone in his backyard. He wrote the storyline and of course the character is based on himself. I'm glad they didn't use the "based on true events"-line though. :D Didn't watch New Girl btw so I can't say anything 'bout that.
