No Yella b****** in my show...

I laugh so hard. LMAO!

reply

reply

She's the boss.

reply

On a Live thread I read, they were laughing, too. 

reply

I literally laughed out loud at that scene.

Girlfriend had that wide azz grin on her face like she just knew she was gonna pass the "Brown Paper Bag Test", but Bessie flipped the script on her.

"Time for me is nothin cause I'm counting no age!"

reply

It was funny, but it was also honest and historically relevant. Look at all the footage of chorus dancers during that period...they're all fair skinned. Bessie was one of the few who would hire darker skinned cast members. For all the discrimination back then, African Americans were discriminating against each other for the colour of their skin.

reply

Are you sure it wasn't in reference to someone being a coward?

reply

No.

Some things you just can't ride around...

reply

I don't know if I should laugh at you, or shake my head at you insane ignorance.

reply

I see you're still out here being dumb as ever. Clearly you couldn't be bothered to learn a bit of black history.

Excuse me--ya'll lookin' for a dead body??

And those inter-racial racist attitudes started in slavery and were enforced by white slavemasters as a means to keep black people divided against each other---that wasn't something black folks suddenly came up with on their own. Unfortunately, the hangover from those attitudes still exit today, sadly. I thought those scenes were funny too, only because I know the history of the discrimination black entertainers had to deal with, no matter how dark or light they were.
