I feel like I have watched this movie before? Was there a similar movie last year?

The structure & big twist at the end are VERY similar to "Angel Heart" (1987).

And "Memento" (2000) of course.

But "Remember" has a different subject.

Exactly I thought of these two films immediately.

It was a knock off of memento, given a geriatric twist.

And yes, angel heart's twist.

Didn't watch it yet, but I hope so much it isn't exacly the same plot as The Railway Man (2013) . Synopsis sounds exactly the same...

I recommend Music Box (1989). Dont watch the trailer or read anything before watching.

The movie you are looking for could be This Must be the place (2011, starring Sean Penn, directed by Paolo Sorrentino).
Alhough the movies have different contents, they share a similar plotline: a man tries to track down an ex Nazi for revenge. And it's all a journey through gunshops, wrong leads, etc.
