Good film, Fishburne shines.

"Standoff" is a decent film about Thomas Jane, basically a guy wasting his life away, who hears a young girl's plea for help and he defends her against Laurence Fishburne, whom you could close your eyes and imagine Samuel L Jackson in his role - it almost sounds as if the script was written for him. Both actors did a fine job, but Fishburne delivered one of his better performances of late. He does play a ruthless killer. It will appear in theaters today, and if you are a fan of either guys then buy a ticket. But this would be a really nice rental when it comes out on DVD/Bluray. ** 1/2 out of 4 stars.

Fishburne, Sam. L. Jackson or hey, why not Denzel Washington?
I would have loved to see Washington in this role. We know he can play a bad guy (Training Day).

As for the character Thomas Jane plays, I think he was about to commit suicide the moment he hears the girl screaming for help, right?
He also says something near the end of the movie when the girl thanks him for saving her life. He respons with "returning the favor" or something in that line.
