I get they needed him in the bathroom so he could self harm but did they really need to show him taking a dump and wiping his bunghole???

Agreed. Like, wtf. That wasnt clever or real, it was just gross filler. Also, how did he eventually get out of the bathroom if the door was stuck when he first tried?

Unnecessary, sure. However, it's not like he bent over in front of the camera and spread his cheeks.

I just watched it and I don't even remember him "wiping his bunghole." You might ask yourself why THAT was the big impression you took away from the film.
