Phil gained all the weight back

That was distressing to watch. Phil moved to Detroit, went back to truck driving, got married, got divorced, and gained all the weight back.

The movie was more or less a commercial for Joe Cross's online community. It wasn't as engaging and it relied heavily on the first film to keep it interesting. There were a lot of callbacks to the first film which just made me want to watch it again instead of this sequel. It was at least nice to have gotten an update on some people from the first film. Except Phil. Poor Phil.

Phil wrote about his weight gain back in September, which I've just found now:

Learning about that pains me. I really love rooting for Phil. Looking forward to watching this tonight on Netflix.

@devonerd In the first movie Phil tells his doctor that, "I'm not going back to driving a truck, that darn near killed me." So I think his big mistake was going back to that job. How many fit truck drivers are there? It's not the most active job in the world.

I didn't watch the sequel, and after reading your opinion I'll skip it.

Yeah, me too. I remember that in the first movie I was really rooting for him to be successful in finding a career in his new lifestyle, but really doubted that he'd be able to make it happen. I would very much like to have been wrong about that. It would be too sad to watch this.

It's a shame. I think Phil suffered from not having a support system to keep him on the straight and narrow regarding his diet. Their are people who attend AA meetings who haven't had a drink in decades. As for him returning to truck driving, it's a pretty lucrative profession. Once you're used to a certain income, it's hard to make less, especially if you have child support to pay. I believe that before he returned to truck driving he was working at a Walmart. Good luck living on that income!

I think Phil can bounce back.

If he gets a support network around him again, he'll succeed.
