Favourite version of Heidi
Which is yours?
shareNever thought I'd say this but actually this one. It stays true to the source material and features incredible performances by the child actors. I found myself tremendously moved. A truly wonderful adaptation and much better than the German-language trailer suggests. The first quarter of the movie (Grandfather warms up to Heidi) seems a bit rushed and the Frankfurt segment dragged on a little too much (Heidi sleepwalking, "ghost"-hunting) but overall, this is a heartwarming film that stays with you.
shareHaven't gotten around yet to seeing this version.
So far my favorite version has been the Japanese Anime Arupusu no shôjo Haiji (1974).
The Japanese anime of course, that's what I grew up with.
shareIt will stay the one I grew up with : the 1978 TV serie with Katia Polletin

"Don't act, be !" (Kate Winslet)
This version is my favorite. So beautifully done - the photography, the acting, the directory. Often when I see a movie, I often think "they could have done it better, if only..." But in this case, I can't think of any way to improve it. Perfect!
My only complaint - why can't more movies be like this?
I like all the versions I have seen. This one is cute as well. I have never read the book.
