In the first couple of investigations, the men would just leave after their confrontation with Chris and would sometimes be charged and arrested later on for what they did. After those, they decided to create sting operations so that the men would be arrested immediately after leaving the house.

I do hate these predators a lot but, it's always bothered me whenever the prdator asks Chris if he's under arrest or is going to be arrested, and Chris just says something like "that's not up to me", and then when he's done with the interview, he tells the mean that they're "free" to go. That obviously creates the impression that they won't be arrested and are literally free to go, only to have them barely get through the door before having the police ambush them.

Why couldn't Chris let them know that they were going to be arrested? They obviously aren't under arrest while Chris is talking to them but, they will be very shortly so, why not say so.

It's a sleazy mis-truth, to be sure. But in the show's defense, it's safer for Hansen to get the suspect to leave the room calmly.

Remember, there's been no pat-down - any of these guys could've been armed. Some of them were fairly burly (though the bodybuilder was by far the gentlest of the ones we saw)

That's a good point because there is a gay guy on Facebook who exposes men on the 'down low' with video of them having sex with him and he got popped (shot) by one of the DL men. He lived, but I don't think the shooter was ever caught.

I've never heard of this show before, or watched it.
So, I wonder if you can tell my why any of these predators would talk to the media?
Are they just stupid? I'm assuming if they say anything that indicates guilt that it is admissible evidence, so why?
Do they give them money for their legal defense?
Are they just vain?
Or I have no idea about this show? ;-)

Hansen didn't identify himself as media -- he was careful (and sneaky) to evade any questions about himself by deflecting back onto the predators. As long as he got them talking, he could keep stalling. The cameras and microphones were all hidden.

Most of them are very stupid, so much so that it's hard to believe they posed any kind of threat to anyone at all.

They were not protected by Miranda laws because Hansen wasn't a cop or acting at the direction of police. Everything they said on camera was potentially admissible.

Do they give them money for their legal defense?

No.

Are they just vain?

Maybe but we don't know. None of them knew they were on camera, and nearly all of them took off when they learned they were being taped.

Well Chris isn't necessarily lying to them when he says "that isn't up to me", he isn't police. He Could say instead, "maybe, you are commiting a potential crime right now".
