absolutely boring movie.....5/10

the cgi was mediocre as if its a 2003 movie or something.
the accent of the giant was horrible its like he was mumbling throughout the movie.
the girl is an average actor nothing special there.
the pace the dialogues were all so boring and not exciting enough to hold your attention.
climax is nothing special , they just picked up the bad guys and thats it!!

dont waste your money in this boring children's movie.
Spielberg name is not enough.

Yeah, some relatives dragged me to see it, and I give it 4/10.

And it's only that high because of the scenes with the Queen.

It's a dreadful movie, even if you lower your standards and allow it to be a simplified kids movie. It's not even a good kids movie. I was very shocked that Spielberg was the director here.

And there is definitely something repulsive about the way the CG characters look. I know the giants aren't supposed to be attractive, but even the BFG himself is off-putting. And yes, the CG isn't the best work. BFG and the objects he interacted with always seemed to look soft, fake and "not really there" (with much better work found in Avatar, LOTR, Pirates of the Caribbean and Planet of the Apes, it really should have been better).

The movie bombed hard ($140+ million budget not including marketing) and it likely Spielberg's worst when it comes to his directorial efforts.

Domestic Total
$55,483,770
International
$127,804,919
Worldwide Total
$183,288,689

(edit) To be fair to the movie, I initially did not finish it, like a kid avoiding their vegetables. I was that bored. I just went back to finish it and the scenes with the Queen actually made me perk back up. The charm and whimsy I wanted was sort of coming back in these scenes. Shame the majority of the movie wasn't like this.

How can Spielberg make a fantasy movie this boring? Its like he forgot It takes more than Beautiful images, CGI and shots to tell an engaging story.
