Poor Felix

Felix at the end seems so unhappy as Meira early in the movie.
The baby cries... And I was also unhappy with the ending.
I was under the impression that the director sought revenge on Felix.

Meira's husband was really stupid. Let her go without doing anything at all, not even to say that he liked her.
He is aggressive when she's listening to music and at the end close the curtains, listen to the same vinyl and throws himself on the floor.

Why Meira use fake hair and why Felix used fake beard? Any Meaning?

The last scene is very sinister : they look at each other, then she apologizes to her daughter twice and the boat appears in the middle of the night without anyone.
Do they have committed suicide in the water?

Poor Felix better have stayed single.

Hasidic women are expected to cut their hair really short after getting married, so they use wigs afterwards. Hasidic men sport long beards with sideburns, so Felix was going "undercover" to have a chance to meet Meira. I agree Felix looked really unhappy by the end of the movie, once the novelty had worn out and reality of being "stuck" with a woman he didn't really love and her kid had finally sunk in.

Not only that, but Meira knew it as well. The last lines of the movie was Meira saying "I'm sorry, my love. Forgive me." to her daughter.

What a sad ending.

Do you think she apologizes twice with his daughter predicting a suicide ?

reply

Wait, so you assume that Felix didnt love Meira.
Why would you think that? Then what was the point of this movie, in your opinion??
The movie was presented as a love story.

I think the ending shows clearly that the excitement of their adventure had worned out, and both looked like having serious seconds thoughts about the decision they took. Sad. He never planned on supporting a divorced woman and her baby, she noticed they had no plan and not many possibilities to be really happy. Notice their body language, each to his own...
