Blu Ray encoding?

Anyone else watched this on Blu Ray? I've watched this on the UK one and the picture quality of the encode is terrible. Digital artefacts abound throughout the movie, especially noticable in the first meeting between Donavan and Hoffman (the scene sitting down in the clud - in particular watch the digital 'echo' of Tom Hanks' hand as it moves).

I tested it on a few players and it was the same, i even thought perhaps it was a fault that occured with the camera when filming and that was the only footage they had, but when i looked into it i found they had filmed on celluloid and not digitally, so the transfer to digital should have been good.

Anyone else noticed this?

Screenshots at least show no notable compression issues. The UK bluray is not the best but the difference with the US one is marginal.

This of course doesn't prove that there isn't an isolated problem but it's not likely.
