Needs nudity- BADLY!

The 'Sword and Sandal'/Fantasy revival of the 70s/80s was seen as an 'exploitation' cinema, and many of the movies had sex and nudity alongside the cheesy violence and VFX. The original pre-code form of these movies in Hollywood also contained nudity.

But today the USA is a VERY sick society, and violence that would have made a 70s film an hard-R or X-rated release now gets a PG-13 equivalent warning when used in many of the US TV shows produced today. Meanwhile basic cable and broadcast US TV has never been more prudish (in the period from the early 1970s onwards) when it comes to sex and nudity. Nudity was MORE possible on broadcast TV in the USA in the 1970s than it is today.

So 'Olympus' has plenty of vile explicit mutilation, but not even one bare breast, and yet plenty of US sheeple will hit threads like this one to justify this sick state of affairs in mainstream American TV output.

My point here is that this psychopathic psychology (at its peak in the current 'Hannibal' TV show) exhibited by US producers is not only disturbing in the extreme (and should make the entire world fear the mental state of the USA), but that it also ruins the potential of shows like 'Olympus'. What should be fun adult orientated low-brow TV is converted by SyFy into fodder suitable only for the kind of children we should all worry about greatly. Be in no doubt that when a producer bans sex, it is purposely to make the show 'suitable' for young kids.

Have you heard of porn? I'm guessing you are not to familiar with American Television because you'd be hard pressed to find a show days that doesn't have sexual content of some kind in it.(that's not on a kids channel) Anyway if a show isn't a good show, a boobie is not gonna make it better. Grow up creep.

Ditto.

A good laugh and a long sleep are the two best cures for anything.

I see your point, but i have to, respectfully, disagree on one point; there are very few things that boobies will not make better. Now dont get me wrong, even boobs will not make a bad show good. But a bad show with boobs will always be better than a bad show without. (And yes, a good show without is better than a bad show with)

This is not me being a misogynist, just a fan. (Of breasts i mean. I haven't watched this show yet lol)

But to the original point, US television and movies do seem to have messed up morality. I think naked people (either/both sexes) is far less harmful than graphic violence.

But if people object to their kids seeing such things (both boobs and violence), then don't let them watch shows with such things.

Just sayin. ..

reply

Again porn. Give me a valid reason as to why it would make the show better...and not just because you would like to see them.

orii0786 :
showing breasts or any kind of body parts isn't porn. porn would be unnecessary long sex scenes. Ancient Greece was open with nudity, men & women, more than the series itself. Having said that, gratuitous nudity isn't good either but has to serve the story & the character.
The show isn't bad even with its inferior & conspicuous CGI. My problem is, where is the series going? It needs more plots & more action.

Let's go get a drink & smoke a cigarette

The OP makes no point and objective reverses the facts.
There is more nudity and sexuality available than ever in TV programming with whether it be streaming or cable.

And the OP has other posts claiming US violence is up, when US violence crime is down 50, murder down 60 and gun murder down 65% from the 1990s. The US is not a "sick society" we have a tiny fraction, about 1% that commits repeat crimes. that does not make society "sick"

And study after study shows violent TV content is understood as fake and doe snot have any affect on commission rates.

Do you know what affect violent TV has? It has one affect: It makes people like the OP think there is more violence than their actually is.

The OP is the only one confusing TV violence for reality!

You are an idiot. I know this because I have read many of your posts. Furthermore, you are overbearing and self-righteous.
Don't go away mad, just go away.

I thought I replied to this thread before. Maybe someone reported it, even though I didn't attack anyone personally. Anyway.

What on Earth are you talking about? There is quite a bit of nudity or near-nudity on US TV these days, from scripted shows to the numerous reality shows. Naked and Afraid on Discovery, Dating Naked on VH1, NYPD Blue, Being Human, Battlestar Galactica and many more.

reply

what nudity or near nudity did battle galactica ever have?

A wild penis appeared on BSG: The Plan.
It didn't make the movie any more or less unnecessary.

reply

The Plan had nudity, Caprica unrated pilot also had nudity.
Don't think there was any in the main series, unless there is something on one of the extended episodes on the blus I'm forgetting.

reply

...I don't remember anything being extended... lol

I type slowly...

So there is no ... sexy scenes? Whats the TV14 for?

Throats being cut.

Apparently one to two nude scenes per episode were shot. they were just unused so far (notice both versions on Amazon are Broadcast version or "BV")

And do you really want to see Brits naked? They are the unhealthiest looking Europeans after the Irish.
