Low budget, poor out of touch

As a fan of Greek and Roman mythology productions. I must say this show is an insult for every other similar production.

The poor acting shocked me, the effects and the music, it is just terrible, i can't begin to describe how weak it appeared to be from the very first scene. Even the choice of actors and actresses, nothing is in its place. I just want to know, how did it got approved to be shown on TV in the first place.

I forced myself to watch the first episode, and completely lost interest during.

i do admit the production isn't where it should be, in other words, this series needs more money to improve the effects, but i admit that their settings are kinda new & fresh. I wouldn't call it an insult, i mean..look at the early clash of the titans film or jason & the argonauts.
As for acting, some are less than average but the director would have to share the blame on this one. hero is ok, so is the oracle, daedalus, & the kings wife. It's the athenian king who is a bit annoying but on the whole, it's ok, i wouldn't call it a classic but it's a different take on the greek mythology.

I'm not sure what you meant by "look at the early clash of the titans or jason & the argonauts". Can you explain the point you are making by using those films as examples? Thanks.

if you had seen Clash of the Titans with laurence olivier & hamlin guy, you will understand what i mean. The effects were terrible, even by the standards of 81. Jason & the argonauts was older, but still one enjoyed watching these films.
The effects in Olympus are not up to standards, & not many known actors, but still one can enjoy the story. A siege, daedalus,an oracle in love, royal sorcery, conflicting siblings...the mix is rather different than the usual greek myth films/series we are used to.

I have always been a huge fan of Ray Harryhausen's work, including "Clash of the Titan's" and "Jason and the Argonauts". The effects in Jason especially were actually cutting edge at the time they were made but effects are irrelevent to me.

I grew up watching stop motion animation, guys in rubber suits, iguana's that were supposed to be dinosaurs, and flying saucers suspended on fishing lines. And I actually loved all of it as long as the story was good.

So I enjoy Olympus regardless of the effects. Olympus is not very good but it is good enough for me to watch for now.

well, even clash of the titans upon its release wasn't so convincing for me, but one enjoyed the film, at the time. Of course the story has to be interesting, whereas nowadays you have loads of dazzling CGI's in films which are far from interesting.
Olympus is good, not a classic but enjoyable. One will have to wait & see how the story develops.

Hmm... acting is not too bad, but what gets me, like with other silly shows like... Hercules, Xena warrior princess, is how unrealistic costumes, weapons, props in general is. This is the first show I have seen of this genre where stuff like that looks completely idiotic, yet having rather proper gore effects.
What I think is that, the show has good elements, but then there are the bad elements that completely ruins it.

I like the plot of the show, but certain elements simply needs to improve. I demand a remake!

P.S. The cyclop, was actually quite cool, design wise.

I agree with you 100%

Can you recommend some good Greek and Roman mythology shows (or just shows set in those time periods)? Preferably post-2000 as the outdated low budget look kind of ruins the period feel for me.
