I liked it but hated it too

This was such an odd little story. I was hooked on it (mostly because of the enigmatic portrayal of Medea) early on but then the middle episodes were ghastly and then the ending just confused and disappointed.

Some of the characters were intriguing (Medea, Hero, and Ariadne were my favorites), but then their characterizations changed. The change itself wasn't wholly terrible but the pacing was. Medea and Hero at least had just a little bit of plot to show the changes in their personality, but Ariadne just went from psychotic to loving partner in 0-60. Hero loves her with all his heart but is willing to ditch her after she falls under Dionysus' spell?

Even the tone of the show went from something that was more Sam Raimi and Hercules-ish to some really dark elements. Then there was the weird interactions with the gods that were a little too enigmatic and visually disjointed. Futuristic talking monoliths contrasted against giant talking heads and then something out of Mesopotamian nightmares. Like wtf... Twin Peaks meets Xena?

Loved the actors and hope they go on to much better things because a second season of this show is not something I would look forward to.
