It takes itself seriously!

Spoiler alert (for what it's worth...)

Such "C" movies are sometimes enjoyable just because of their absurdity, bad acting and cheap special effects, especially when they show some degree of auto-irony. This one takes itself seriously. Nevertheless I liked it up to the point where it drifts towards blood bath and tragedy: IMHO, tragedy requires either better quality or more irony.
I must say, however, that the space suits were particularly hilarious, a mixup of those used in old japanese sci-fi movies with the armors of the teutonic knights of "Alexander Nevskij". The presence of Robert Picardo, an actor I appreciated in several serials, made me think that the "Captain Proton" holographic scenario of "Star Trek Voyager" was way more realistic than this movie.
