If the data does not support the idea or hypothesis, you formulate a new hypothesis, not new data..

Inquiry Launched Into Global Temperature Data Integrity

The International Temperature Data Review Project

London, 26 April 2015 – The London-based think-tank the Global Warming Policy Foundation is today launching a major inquiry into the integrity of the official global surface temperature records.

An international team of eminent climatologists, physicists and statisticians has been assembled under the chairmanship of Professor Terence Kealey, the former vice-chancellor of the University of Buckingham. Questions have been raised about the reliability of the surface temperature data and the extent to which apparent warming trends may be artefacts of adjustments made after the data are collected. The inquiry will review the technical challenges in accurately measuring surface temperature, and will assess the extent of adjustments to the data, their integrity and whether they tend to increase or decrease the warming trend.

Climatologists have long been aware of the poor state of global surface temperature records and considerable effort has been put into adjusting the raw data to correct known errors and biases. These adjustments are not insignificant. For example it has been noted that in the temperature series prepared by NOAA for the USA, the adjusted data exhibits a much larger warming trend than the raw data.

It turns out that these methods are mainly statistical, not well justified by experiments and are rarely supported by metadata. In many of the cases studied the proposed corrections are not even statistically significant.

Thanks. Haven't checked the validity of it, yet, but it does jibe with much of what I've observed.

AGW is a religion, not science. And it's remarkable how quickly anyone who doesn't toe the line -- no matter how much a past supporter -- gets excommunicated as a heretic and apostate.

Once I know I'm being lied to I don't have a mechanism that allows me not only disassociate my beliefs from the lies...

"We KNOW we're right so the data MUST be wrong!!"

But then to be able to go on the attack when someone has the temerity to point out the deception, and points out that you will never arrive at the truth if your "facts" are faked. I have dealt with people who have the same mental disconnect in the real world, they are known as sociopaths..

And you'll notice they INEVITABLY focus on the record that they contend is so unreliable that it needs constant massaging and massive upward adjustment until it suddenly transforms into an incontestable holy grail of climate "truth" (not sure when the goose egg turn golden but they sure are)

But the elephant in the climate record, the monkey in the wrench, is the satellite record, if all their machinations result in the "truth" how come the satellite is a non-believer? Maybe Exxon makes satellites?

Oops, I guess they didn't get the memo, Nasa/JPL debunked that bit of climatological bull spit years ago, not that anyone acknowledges it, never let the truth get in the way of of a good lie..
