The In Mem montage needs to be a bigger & bolder segment

Give us movie clips and let it be longer without a separate song being sung afterward. Give the departed artists their proper due. Plus that segment is popular as hell. I don't think the producers get that.

Totally agree. I was extremely disappointed. Oh but hey, I would much rather watch a bunch of song and dance?! I don't know why they think anyone wants that! You're right they don't get it.

Came here to specifically post this. I also missed seeing film clips. The segment seemed rushed, and seemed like people were afraid to clap, like they usually do. I agree about the popularity of the memorial tribute. It certainly is the one part I ALWAYS wait for and watch. Gee, TCM does a better tribute than this!!! We lost a lot of HUGE stars this year, and they deserved the proper respect. Get with it, Academy!!!

reply

Agreed.

The moment Robin Williams face popped up I lost it..

reply

Yep. All I wanted was to see Robin in a Good Will Hunting clip or something.

Well said!

Agreed. This "Let's have an artist sing a song" garbage started a few years back, and needs to stop. This isn't the Grammy's. And the segment is supposed to be about the people we lost. Not a cheap vehicle for someone to show off their pipes every year. Good grief - these Hollywood types are clueless.

This was the worst one I have ever seen.
And it was rushed through for...that horrible woman's shrieking.

reply

I remember when they used to show short clips of the movies for the people who passed.
In fact, they barely showed any movie clips at all last night - for anything.

Totally agree with you, NO MORE SINGING during the memorial segment, the singer competes for camera time with the tribute reel which pretty much kills the whole point of doing such a tribute.

At least the Academy's official site has put up a memorial photo collection of individuals in the industry who have passed away in the last twelve months http://oscar.go.com/photos/2015-oscars-in-memoriam/media/ . The tv show on the other hand needs to start doing this segment properly again or just drop it altogether.

Harold Ramis' passing was acknowledged last year onstage by Bill Murray. Heartfelt, sincere and a nice moment from one friend to another.

TCM does the best memoriams! They need to take a note...

last nights tributes were WEAK...the water coler prints of the deceased did not work.

Also where was HAROLD RAMIS....he died just BEFORE last year's ceremony and was lefy off this one...
