Poorly directed

Quite poorly directed. Surprised Brody and Cusack are in this film. Expensive budget, but comes over as low budget.
Very over rated on IMDB, worth a 4.2 at best - can only imagine people who want to see Romans and Chinese soldiers fight rated it highly. Roman soldiers in this film didn't compare to what we know about Roman tactics. Loose formations, no turtles v's archers. Sending cavalry out first, etc.

The acting was the main problem. God the acting was so bad (mainly of the actors for the Romans). The acting was so bad I didn't even care about all the historical inaccuracies, which i'm usually a stickler about (plus there were so many inaccuracies it's not even worth thinking too much about them). I did enjoy the movie enough for the positive, progressive themes, the action, the concept of Roman-Chinese interaction (I love both ancient Rome and ancient China), and the fact that Jackie Chan was in it, plus the bonus of Cold Moon, but the acting...
