Needs subtitles

Other than that I enjoyed it

You're part of the reason movies suck nowadays.

You expected the Chinese to also speak English??

reply

How is wanting subtitles the same as expecting the chinese to speak english?

I suspect sometimes you're just looking for a reason to lash out at people so you just make stuff up in your head.

Movies are IQ tests; the IMDB boards are how people broadcast their score.

The subtitles I saw indicated they weren't even speaking in just "Chinese" but in various languages and dialects in the area. And just somehow understand each other anyway, probably from their immersion to each other's language. Also, I think that's always been how Chinese movies were made, everyone just spoke whatever language they spoke and there'd just be Chinese subtitles just in case people didn't understand.

I almost expected the Romans to speak Latin, which I guess they kind of do with the singing.

I found it odd that the Chinese had subtitles but the Romans were fluent in English. It should be both or neither.

reply

Well that's clearly for our benefit...
This is a Chinese film. In China the Romans would have the Chinese Subtitles.
Why should it be both or neither?
