Adrien Brody is UNwatchable

Thanks to Brody, this will be the first Jackie Chan movie I won't have seen. Who in their right mind would cast Brody? I have never seen him in a single movie that was watchable, so now I completely avoid everything he's in. Some Hollywood moron even tried to make him into a ladies' man in one movie! The only person who wanted to vomit more than me was the unfortunate woman he was with.

Brody is great, the guy can immerse himself in any role.

it's cussack who was the letdown

I bet you like him in Predators, too. How sad that your standards are so low.

Haha, movie snobs...gotta love 'em.

Paul...I think you have just made my favorite reply to any comment, in any thread, ever!

Thank you!

reply

He was pretty good in Predators.
Note: how you feel about an actor is not the same as his acting skills. Almost every person on earth cannot understand this.

reply

yup cusack was a cue sack, i think he tried but just didn't get wth he was in.

reply

Were you guys too young to understand movies, or something... All of the characters in this were great, including Cusack.

reply

Adrien Brody was ok. He made me hate Tiberius so that's pretty good, the purpose of him playing the villain was met. Also, the movie is not that bad. No Oscar competitor here but the message is powerful, the characters are generally good and it is actually the first movie starring Jackie Chan that I enjoyed in a long time.
Watch this movie and decide for yourself! I was not expecting it to happen but... I really liked it!

reply

Yeah, knowing it was a Jackie Chan film I expected it to be a little less serious and more actiony-adventury like Drunken Master. I was pleasantly surprised at the general tone of the film and how they went against what I was expecting would be some predictable plot points. For what it was, I enjoyed it.

reply

I don't know, he wasn't that bad. The guy did win an oscar, he was great in that movie.

You said it yourself. Bitch, we're the Guardians of the Galaxy!

reply

That is a shame then, that you are only missing out on a fine movie. Not sure what the critics wanted out of this movie. I thought it was really good. Adrian Brody is one of the finest actors of his craft, his part here is no exception. His work here was well done. So you never watched the Pianist? Summer of Sam, etc.? This movie here was a historical fiction. I would not say it is overdone, or under-done. Good fight scenes, a believable tyrant, and two good heroes. The scenery was good. Sure it was done in a "Hollywood" vein, but much of other countries hit movies are also. Hollywood happened to start it all. Could have been Berlinwood, Scicilywood, tokyowood, Sydneywood, or Stalinwood. Who gives a sh*t?

Point is that there are excellent, mediocre, or poorly (>$) made movies being made. I enjoyed this movie. Jackie Chan is awesome, even the extra's deserve mention.

he was amazing in this movie, what the hell are you talking about?
You have some serious issues

Brodey has pretty much single-handedly dismantled the once great HK film industry. Some one needs to send him packing back to Europe.

reply

I'm afraid of the answer but still: How do you think Brody "dismantled" HK film industry and in which movies he did so?
Please, enlighten us.

reply

You just can't make an opinion of Brody acting in a movie that you dont want to watch, it's better if you just say you hate is way of acting, or his face, or his voice, that way at least it would be understandable, i mean, your opinion.

As for me, Jackie Chan was IMPRESSIVE in this movie and Mathew was more than fine, Brody did a very well job as being the bad one and the casting was just perfect.. to bad, there be always be haters.

Firstly, you really didn't want to reply to ME, did you?

And secondly, who is this Mathew guy that you speak of? I don't remember a Mathew.

reply

Firstly: Brody, Secondly: He's from New York City, not Europe.

Just saying.

reply

I'm not sure what the problem with the user who started this thread is exactly; apart from just hating Brody without saying why exactly but I'm pretty sure the second hater is just a troll...

reply

I think Brody is a very talented actor,i loved him in the pianist, the jacket ,Detachment to name a few and this was a pleasant surprise seeing both brody and cusack in a Jackie movie, John cusack gets a lot of hate but I like him as well, both good actors imo, the film itself is a damn good effort to send a message across the globe "turn youre foes into friends" something you dont hear to often these days with all the things going on in this world we all live in, i find that people get less tolerant with one another, there is to much hate everywere, make friends instead of enemies just wish more people could take it to heart.solid movie i liked it, its a 7 for me

Brody was the only actor in this movie that made it an okay movie.
the worst thing about this movie was the kid and the scene where jackie chan "sings"

reply

i agree to that, the kid was horrible

reply

Jackie Chan singing was okay...ish. Nah, it was okay. I can forgive Jackie Chan, because - *beep*, he's Jackie frikken Chan! ;) But the kid singing was actually where I was turned off completely. And when the kid cried I cried "Kill it! Kill it with fire!".

The kid was awful. The worst part of the whole experience, in every scene, in every moment, the kid was awful.

reply

And when the kid cried I cried "Kill it! Kill it with fire!".

😁

Thank you! I enjoyed laughing out loud at this perfect statement which expresses my sentiments better than I ever could have.

Adrian Brody is a great actor, simple as that. I want to watch this BECAUSE he's in it, so it all balances out hey?

reply

This is the first time I've ever seen Adrian brody as a bad guy, i thought he pulled it off pretty well. Didn't really look out of place at all. He is a good actor.

reply

The only movie I've seen Brody (whom I also like) play a bad guy is in THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL. He also has one of the funniest scenes in the film involving an old-school four-way punch =up fight done slapstick style----it had me LMAO so much, I couldn't remember who threw the first punch afterwards. Worth seeing too---the movie itself is pretty good (and pretty funny in parts, too.)

But,yeah, I'd love to see DRAGON BLADE,not just because I love Jackie Chan films anyway, but also for both Cusack and Brody, both interesting actors who always do unpredictable work---you never know where each one is going to pop-up, which makes whatever they happen to show up in even more of a surprise---like this film. Problem is, I've noticed, very few of Jackie's latest films have even gotten a U.S. release in the past decade, so it will probably be the same for this one, even though I read that it was a big hit in China.
