Why my words is ???

reply

Well it's a true story, so this one did end in AIDS

reply

Also because it defined a whole generation of gay men who lost everyone they new. I saw the play in LA and you could tell many guys over the age of 50 found the play incredible moving and also harrowing.
It's a part of our history that needs to be remembered and commented on. And the truth of the matter is, especially here in the US, our government didn't do anything about it for years and thousands of man died in pain with no support other than their own community.
It shouldn't be dwelled upon but it is something that needs to be spoken about and remembered.

reply

Yep i know what you mean...watch BEAUTIFUL THING...beautiful gay story without anyone dying from AIDS.

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

reply

No one "becomes gay" - but knowing about the risks of HIV does warn everyone (straight or gay) to be careful about unprotected sex. There are millions of straight people in the world who have been infected with HIV - so, it is not even a "gay disease" in the first place...

reply

There are millions of straight people in the world who have been infected with HIV

its bcoz no one care to help africa.

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

reply

Not only did you miss my point - you missed your own!

reply

yeah, you are right, normal and LGBT are normal human being, we can get infected, sick and die like anyone else. I hope everyone will believe in God and stop this human's sexuality confusion problem.

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

reply

You sound retarded. I hope zombie jesus cures that...

reply

yeah, not as retarded as some people who prefer some inappropriate hole.

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

reply

Yeah, God knows all the millions upon millions of dollars thrown at it in Africa arent doing a damn because of the combination of greedy little tinpot dictators and a uber-macho mindset that's tied to religious fervor that finds anything even remotely associated with homosexuality, like HIV/AIDS, to be an abomination and a "Western" problem, not an African one.

Maybe things would be different if some of your population got a clue and crawled out of the 15th century...

reply

The town i used to live at had a drama a few years back with its 14-30 y.o locals becoming V.D infected thru unprotected sex and most of them were straight (so they say)..anyone can get it.

reply

but, its so safe to be straight. Its my honest opinion.

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

reply

Wow you are so ignorant it's scary. Please read a book or Google the topic. Seriously.

Be the change you want to see in the world.

reply

all right, I will find out more about gay stuff. Oops! there is no gay in my country.

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

reply

Not about gays, about AIDS! Anyone can get AIDS, as well as other STDs, if you don't use protection.

There's no such thing as being straight is healthier.

N there is not a single country without gay people. Maybe they are not OPENLY gay, but trust me they are there.

My 'best laugh' post was aimed at fluffy

reply

why they must exist, there is a lot of woman out there. Why that hole?

THRILLER IS MY FOOD!

reply

Why don't you ask your God, since he made them that way?

You are ridiculously ignorant. How old are you and what country are you from? I'm guessing 12 years old from a Middle Eastern country perhaps?

Homosexuality also exists in many animals. Why don't you ask them why they exist? Why don't you ask why there is gravity, or even why humans exist in the first place? That's like asking why do black people exist, there's plenty of white people around.. So ignorant..

reply

That's the best laugh I've had in ages. Thanks. It's even funnier cuz you think it's true.

reply

fluffset you are ever so right! I am an 86 years young man born 12th July 1930 and I call a spade a spade and even at 86 I am still gay, happy, but NOT homosexual and NEVER will be!!! Having said that I have a very close friend who IS homosexual but no way in the wild world will he ever,or even try,and convince me otherwise! This person that I refer to is a brilliant writer and author of many books IE."Martian Under My Skin", "Rock Idol And Super Star" to mention just a couple. Which is about Freddy Mercury and Rudolph Nureyev and THEIR tender love affair and love for each other. Then my very close friend, Yuri Ryuntyu, has just finished, with my help with proof reading his latest book titled "The Death In Paris" that deals with Rudolph's suffering as he put off his inevitable death from aids, which I believe all who new of Freddy Mercury also did so.
When "The Death In Paris" is published I would recommend you get a copy ASAP. I must go now as we, Yuri and myself are going now to see, at the local cinema, "Holding The Man"

The reason is a large section of a gay generation is gone due to AIDS.

I had friends who went to 50 funerals in a single year.

Now imagine (you guys under 30), having 50 of your friends die within the next 12 months. Hard to believe? Yet in major gay centers in the 80s, that's what happened while the media, politicians, and even medical community either ignored it or used it to promote their own anti-gay agendas. Luckily, there were enough people who fought what was happening and opened the door for positive changes.

Sure, this is just history to you now. Yet to those of us who survived, these are stories that need to be and should be told.

Now that we have the positions/finances to green light such films, that's what we're doing. All with the hope that we will learn from what happened and that none of you (or those who come after), ever have to experience the same thing.

Brilliantly put! Thanks, Ivannano!

Well said. Who knows where the world would be if the Freddie Murcury's of the world to normal talented people like Tim and John hadn't been stolen from us. A whole generation... I too sometimes feel like the "AIDS movie" is overdone but then I'm reminded to check myself and realize how lucky I am for those who came before who allow me to be who I am today. It could have just as easilly been us and the powerful portrayals of love and pain in the face of suffering is very affecting here. When done right the "AIDS movie" still packs a punch that floors me with that generations grace, brilliance and bravery!
