This is a very good question. It seems that the death of the student on the hunting trip was intentionally left ambiguous by the filmmaking team, leaving it up to the viewer to decide whether Indrid killed him. Indrid's unhinged, vengeful personality certainly leads us to believe that it's a very likely possibility, yet it is also possible that he didn't kill the student. Indrid's constant reluctance to reveal his past and his emotions, as well as consistently makes you think about the story and also raises several questions. Honestly, it's all about how you portray the film.
