This anime film is the REAL reason why YOUR NAME got snubbed at Oscars!

Well, I know that Hayao Miyazaki have a lot of talents & experiences on making anime films for the past 20 years (notably on Princess Mononoke) & even got many awards both in Japan & parts of the world, and congrats that his latest film The Red Turtle got another Oscars nod & we thought that The Wind Rises will be his last one. But anyway, its sad that another anime film that is now becoming a huge hit at the box office for 2016 & I'm talking about Your Name (or also known as Kimi no na wa in Japanese) and that anime film have many positive reviews & even a success box office earnings as what I'd mentioned above & rumor had it it'll be an Oscar contender for this year... and then this. The Red Turtle got a nod for Animated Featured Film & Kimi No Na Wa didn't make the cut. I know that the US theatrical release for Your Name will be on April 7 while The Red Turtle is now shown in US theater but under a limited release, but what's the reason why this anime file made it to this year's Oscars for Best Animated Film and not Your Name? Was it because those the Academys are not too fond on the hype but they're really looking on great storyline or Your Name is too commercialized than The Red Turtle? So what's the reason of this issue? 

Miyazaki has nothing to do with this film (which is not anime, and the creative team is French-Belgium team - Studio Ghibli is only the producer).

So what's the reason of this issue?

Perhaps they though (unlike you, but like most critics) that this was a better movie?

I've not seen these movies. But I know Makoto Shinkai, and, franlky, his appeal is very limited (yes, those lightning effects, that nostalgia, that pathetism...) The characters are bland, the girls and the music are cheesy... I think he never topped his humble short "Voices of a Distant Star".

ok and yeah this film are co-produced by 3 animated film companies in 3 different countries just like forming a SUPERTEAM. Maybe this is the reason why The Red Turtle made a cut for Best Animated Feature nod this year. I know that the creator of Your Name, Makoto Shinkai, will have a bright future for his talents & work as an anime director after this issue and now he have a plan to make another one in the near future but working with Miyazaki's Stodio Ghibli might not be his cup of tea since his work & that studio are much different:

He added: “We’re just two different entities and our styles are just really, really different.

“People may thing we look similar, but we don’t really. Ghibli is about craftsmanship. They draw characters and put life in it.

“But mine is more like a series of stop-motions and our technical aspects are dissimilar too."
