Dohee's consciousness

I would have to re-watch the movie to find more exact instances, but I think Dohee knew exactly what she was doing. The plot hole begins with the social workers "confusing" her with vague language.

We'll start with a woman she sees as her protector. She follows the officer while she rides her bike through the city. As soon as she gets an "in" she begins this... cycle. Her father beats her and she runs to her protector. She is slowly (and easily due to crippling loneliness) breaks down Young-nam's defences. This kid knows how to use people. After killing her grandmother she tells the same story three times the exact same way with very little variance. After seeing what she was capable of doing to her father, I think it's safe to say that she wasn't an innocent little kid. The director obviously thinks that she was Nurtured this way (nurture vs. nature) and I'm willing to buy into that theory for this character.

Dohee did terrible things. What she did to her father (holy crapperdoodle) proves that she has some darkness to her. I find it hard to believe that she could give her pops an erection and fake a rape, but not know that saying Young-nam touch her vagina would be harmful. She obviously is old enough to know what sexual assault is, and her dad even accuses Nam of it in her house (so Dohee heard this). Dohee had to have known that pointing to sexual areas on the doll would get Nam in trouble. It looked like a bit of wish fulfillment on her part (it at least looked like she went under the doll's skirt and started rubbing... furiously).

The young cop was right. She is a *beep* monster. She is capable of doing monstrous things to those who cross her. If her father was a feeble old man he would have met the same fate as gram gram. But Young-Nam took her in because she didn't see that in the girl. Almost all of their interactions were pleasant. When she fully realized what a monster the girl could be, she also realized that she could maybe stop her from acting that way (NURTURE, NURTURE, NURTURE). I think this is really silly, but all that matters is that Young-Nam's character believes it to be true.

There was a bit of disturbing tension between the two leads. I looked up Kim Sae-ron's age and she would have been 14 or younger at the time of filming. I kept begging for nothing to happen between them. Creepy.
