TO ALL CHRISTIANS..

All I was thinking when I was watching this movie is how many of us will be able to endure all the torture for our faith? I don't know when the Rapture is going to take place but looking at the news, it makes me wonder how many of us will have to through all this. My prayers are for all those that are going through this and their families.

reply

Every generation since Jesus has thought that the rapture would come during their lifetime. I wouldn't hold yer breath....

reply

"The rapture" crap is a novelty from the XIX century.

Q: What happens if you get a gigabyte? A: It Megahertz!

reply

Whereas I wonder about all the people that endure torture by the people of faith.

reply

Amen

reply

Yes, we Christians are famous for our sudden, violent outbursts and terrorist acts. And our oppression; we're big on oppression, especially regarding women and homosexuals.

Thank goodness Muslims don't do stuff like that.

Anyway: Muslims, Christians, what's the difference? We're all the same, right? The same threat, right?

reply

yes, christians actually are famous for this. many homosexuals in the usa can attest to that. as well as ones in jamaica, etc.

reply

Really? Perhaps you can provide details.

reply

go on youtube and search jamaica gay stoned to death. or look up how sodomy bans were only struck down by the scotus in 2003--thats gay sex in private. you can also look up how the pentagon was sending daily war reports to bush with bible scripture on them, for the iraq war we never found wmd for, which has killed maybe 1 million people.

reply

You realize, don't you (well, apparently not), that bible verses stamped onto weapons by the manufacturer (not the government) has nothing to do with violence against homosexuals, right? Or that sodomy laws that weren't even enforced for over a century, have nothing to do with violence against homosexuals ... right?

You do see the difference between muslims decapitating, well, everyone different from them, and Christians doing ... nothing violent. Don't you?

reply

i never mentioned weapons.

reply

But you did fail to demonstrate how Christians tend towards violence, let alone how they are somehow just as violent as Mohammedans.

reply

you succeeded in demonstrating that you cant read plain english. so your opinion is worthless.

reply

You realise the concept of a magical fairy up in the sky is completely and utter ridiculous and belief in such should be dealt with by mental health authorities but for the amount of cash that is able to be turned over and by letting it play.

reply

I'm not sure if you realize this, but Christians don't believe in "a magical fairy up in the sky". I understand that you're just trying to belittle people who believe differently than you but if you're so all knowing, you should be famous for your revelation of the answers to questions that so far, NO ONE has been able to answer. No? You can't answer them? Well then your beliefs are just as "ridiculous" as anyone Else's.

reply

It's a shame not many people share your point of view. In my humble opinion religion is the problem, not the solution!

You heard it here first. "Don't let facts get in the way of a good trolling."

So you'd make war against people like Mother Theresa and Gandhi?
The majority of religious people are innocuous. Just let them believe what they believe. A few accomplish great, good things. And another minority of them accomplish horrible, inhuman things.
So do people of no religion. If you would kill and torture those who believe differently than you, how are you different than the people you despise?
It's been this way throughout history. Humanity has a dark side, religious or not. You can choose the right path. Religion gives some people the capacity to do good. Or evil. Because the idea of an afterlife is so powerful. You can choose to hate your neighbor, want to annihilate them--or to love them. Help them. Choose right--it starts with your mind, then your words and actions. If you can do it without religion--great. If you can't--go ahead and believe what you want, as long as it doesn't mean imposing your rights on others. Especially violently.
But I'm afraid kindness and reason won't win out, if people keep thinking this way, wanting to suppress those who believe differently. The only ones who should be suppressed are those who hurt others. That's what the rule of law must be for (law should always protect--if it goes against those ideals, it's a travesty of law)
Use your minds and your innate compassion. Listen to the good side of yourself, not the bad side. If we as individuals do not do this, humanity is lost.

Ignoring the volatile sentiments & varied beliefs expressed here, I make my reply directly to the OP who raised the most compelling question:

Indeed, who is willing to die for anything in this current American culture?

I believe in the end many will be surprised at who is and who isn't willing to die for for their faith. By this I mean, people who talked & 'seemed' to walk The Walk Will not.

And the one who you never thought would - shall be first ...

Because no one knows anyone's heart ...

But there is this too: if a person is not willing to really live for what they believe, they surely won't die for it.

Finally - this movie had nothing to do with religion - it was a 'class' thing. Isaac was trying to live and survive for his family. He would not die for money. He gave it all. Mohsen said many had 'made offers' but they were never 'enough'.
Then Isaac said 'Everything'.
That's why Mohsen respected him and burned the letter.

All the men in the prison were rich businessmen - many of whom made 'offers' and died because they wouldn't offer all. Their hearts were still attached to materialism . . . is that a just thing to die for?

reply

Thank-you for that. It's true - if a person is not willing to really live for what they believe, they surely won't die for it. Your heart is connected to whatever you hold dearest.

Even though this movie was not about religion, it just forced me to look at my relationship with God. Many Christians are persecuted and tortured daily because of their faith, and are willing to die. As I said, I don't claim to know when the Rapture will happen - it may come after I'm dead - but with the way this world heading, I might have to make a life-or-death decision.

I hoped to hear from other sound-minded Christians here.

reply

I know the movie is a drag, but enough to force The Rapture. That may be taking things a mite too far. 🐭

Amen, brother. And so many Christians are now being persecuted over there. We must pray hard for them each day.
