Huge plot hole

besides the million and one other plot holes in this movie, there is one that really sticks out to me. when Sarah is trying to prove that Kevin is the killer, the police brush her off saying that she doesn't have enough evidence. umm hello??? do they not realize he changed his damn name? he used to go by Kevin Cunningham. now his last name is Richardson? how in the world is that not shady as all get out? wouldn't that be considered a huge red flag? in every single lifetime movie I've seen, the police are completely useless. this movie just really solidifies that

Ah, but you see, the police were "waiting for the lab results to come back". That was the male detective's constant whine as to why they wouldn't lift a finger.

But in the veritable nick of time, as Hilary was about to be made dead, the cops suddenly turned up with all guns blazing - and yes, those lab results had come back!

I mean, really?
