Do any animals die?
I'd like to take my 8 year old to see this, but she will FREAK if there's a death. Anyone who's seen it, can you let me know?

shareSPOILER: Yes, two monkeys die: One died in battle and a lizard ate another.

i have to ask is your daughter a vegan? if not have you taught her where her meat comes from? has she ever had a fish or other pet die? she is 8, maybe lion king, or bambi would be good movies for her to watch first. its important to know that EVERYTHING dies.
shareYou're right, Rowley. Thanks for pointing out the hypocrisy of my 8-year-old. She's NOT vegan, and yet still gets upset when she sees death on screen. What a nut. Thanks to your post, I'll try to raise her better. Maybe take her to a cow slaughter or something fun like that!
shareCynthmauch,
There is nothing wrong with your daughter. Please don't change her ask her to change. I think all young people should be compassionate towards others, including animals. Good job, Mom!
Thank you for your kind comment. This child of mine happens to be very sensitive, not sure if it was my parenting or just something innate (likely the latter!) But I agree with you, we need a lot more compassion in this world, particularly to animals. How we treat animals (even the ones we eat) is a direct correlation to our own humanity.
shareCynthia..there's nothing wrong with your daughter...she is a sensitive human being, the best kind there are. I am an adult and I have a very difficult time seeing an animal die. I'm not a vegan, and, yes, am totally aware that everything is going to die. To this day, I have not seen the movie 'Marley & Me' because I know how the movie ends.
There are 2 deaths in this movie but neither of the killings are shown. Otherwise, it is a great movie.

Raising a sensitive child is to be commended. I am also extremely sensitive to animal death sunscreen especially in a documentary and I am a grown woman.
