This movie had the science dumbed down so badly, it couldn't possibly have been any dumber. This was basically "Douches in Space"
shareI won't say it couldn't be any dumber but any sane person who thinks that this is "sciencing the $#@^" out of anything needs a refresher course in middle school science. But then again, it could have been Armageddon.
shareYet Nasa and several astronauts praise the book highly. The film simplifies some things and adds some that don't make sense, but is overall a fairly good adaptation.
shareI'm an engineer. This was one of the few movies about space where the astronauts acted like astronauts, and the engineers back at NASA acted like engineers. This was so much better than Gravity or Ad Astra or any other recent space movie.

shareI disagree, I thought it was dull overall. And that Damon isnt a compelling enough actor to make ten hours of him talking to the camera interesting.
And it's not the most interesting version of this story I've seen, or read, I know I've read several sci-fi books about surviving on another planet before. Not my favorite trope.
You've read too many sci fi books about a guy surviving on another planet. The problem is your hobbies, not the movie
shareIt was a great movie. Still have to say the book was much better. They had to cut too much and simplify it to fit in the time allotted for the movie.
shareI liked the book and the film. But having watched the film a couple of times now that is the image in my head and I cannot remember the details lost.
